Our support to Nepal
When we heard about the earthquake in Nepal our thoughts immediately went to the Shree Kalawi school teachers and pupils we support. Thankfully the school is not impacted. However Chinnebas is affected and we felt the need to offer our support. We donated money to support our contact person Paul Vande Moortel to buy materials to provide emergency shelter.
Only two weeks ago Paul and Hedwig handed over the laptops purchased with support of the HE Space Children's Foundation. Now the focus is on providing shelter and medical care. The extra money we provided for this emergency was given to a doctor and nurse that will join Paul in Nepal. Upon their arrivial, they will leave with 3 trucks made available to Paul, with corrugated iron to do repair works on damaged roofs, and to build an emergency shelter.
In addition to this support the nurse and doctor will provide first aid to the people in need. Paul, the doctor and nurse have been assigned to the Dhading-district by the Red Cross.
The Dhading district, West of Kathmandu, is the region of the epicentre of the earthquake. They will try to go as fas as possible into the region, a cumbersome task as many roads are destroyed.
The new school building, being constructed and improved as part of the complete Shree Kalawi Deurali School, was not impacted. We hope that the laptops, which were procurred on the local market, can be of good use.
